How much does it cost to travel to Bhutan?

The Bhutan travel cost for visiting Bhutan (The Minimum Daily Tariff) is fixed by the Royal Government of Bhutan and the rate is same for Cultural tour, festival trips, trekking etc. 

DAILY TOURIST TARIFF
For a group of three or more the minimum daily rate is (The rates are applicable per tourist per night halt in Bhutan)
  • Peak season: March, April, May, September, October & November – US $ 250 per person per night.
  • Lean season: June, July, August, December, January & February – US $ 200 per person per night.

Bhutan Travel Cost is inclusive of:

  • All internal transports (Driver, car, SUV or Bus) exclude internal flights that one may require.
  • All accommodation (a minimum of 3 stars).
  • All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner).
  • Licensed Tour Guide.
  • Camping equipments and moving things for trekking tours.
  • All internal taxes and charges (a royalty of $65 which is included in the package price).
A Group of 2 people or less:

Tourists travelling to Bhutan in a group of two (2) persons or less shall be subject to a surcharge. This is in addition to Daily Bhutan Travel cost which is as follows.

  • Single individual – US $ 40 per night.
  • Group of 2 persons only – US $ 30 per person per night.

Bhutan Travel Cost exclusive of:

  • Airfares (International or Domestic).
  • Insurance Premiums.
  • Payments for service provided on a personal basis.
  • Cost for any services not mentioned in the “Cost Include head”.
  • Cost incurred due to mishaps, strikes, political unrest etc.
  • Personal expense in items such as laundry, soft drinks, Camera Charges, incidentals, Portage, tips or any other services.
While on a trek, the cost covers:
  • All 3 meals.
  • Services of a Guide, Cook and Helper.
  • Ponies/ Yaks to carry the supplies.
  • Trekking permit fees.
  • Tents and equipment.
Discounts on Bhutan Pine Castle cost:

A) There shall be no charge for CHILDREN up to the age of 5 years. However, those between the ages of 6-12 years accompanied by elders/ guardians shall be given 50% discount on daily rates and 100% discount on Royalty.  This Royalty is currently set at $65 per day.

B) Full time STUDENTS below the age of 25 years, holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions, shall also be given a 25% discount on the Royalty.

C) A discount of 50% on minimum daily package shall be given to one person in a group of 11 people. 100% discount shall be given to one member in a group exceeding 16 persons.

D) A 50%discount on Royalty shall be provided after the 8th night and 100% discount on Royalty shall be provided after the 14th night.

E) Visitors availing discounts under Sections A & B shall not be eligible for discount under D

Cancellation Policy:
  • Tour and Trek: No refund if cancelled 30 days or less before arrival date.
  • Airfare: – 100% refund if cancelled 30 days or more from travel date.
  • 50% between 30 – last 10 days from travel date of issue.
  • Administration fee of USD 25 applicable per cancellation.
  • US $ 10 or equivalent local currency for every date change
  • No name change permitted once booking is made on the same PNR
  • US$ 25 or equivalent local currency for every spelling correction of name.

Delayed Arrivals:
There is no charge for delays in arrival and departure because of weather conditions disrupting flights or roadblocks. The tourists must however bear the cost of food, accommodation, transportation, and other services required.
